Caring for a Budgie
DISCLAIMER
Before you buy a budgie, know the risks you are getting yourself into. Budgies are great companions for many households, but they might not be right for you. Birds are a forever pet and not an impulse purchase.
I recommend against buying a budgie if you:
- can't handle chittering and chirping noises every day
- have agressive, large, energetic, or easily startled pets (such as a dog or cat) that could put your bird at risk (of course, there are birds that lead a happy, healthy life shared with canine or feline siblings, but that only means you need to be extra careul around them.)
- don't have anyone in the house for more than 12 hours of your day; budgies get lonely
- live in an environment with many risks to the bird of which you can't eliminate
